Human Study#1 is an installation where the human becomes an actor. In a scene reminiscent of a life drawing class, the human takes the sitter’s role to be sketched by a robot. The robot, a stylised minimal artist, is only capable of drawing obsessively. Its body is old school desks on which the drawing paper is pinned.

The SpeculativeAI series consists of two aesthetic experiments. Their goal is to make the processes of artificial neural networks perceptible to humans through audiovisual translation. The work Exp. #2 (conversation) questions an AI’s capacity for empathy and purpose while communicating with a second AI. Both systems are embodied by a light or sound object and can receive the messages of the other. The light object can hear and create images. The sound object can see and play sounds.

National+ selection has existed since 2017 when, after the first initial art+science activities and events, we learned and identified numerous independent and mostly unrelated actors of the Serbian art & science scene. Still, the term ‘national’ should be taken conditionally. It is about creators of diverse interests and practices who work and live here, however, for the most part, it is about artists who reside abroad for shorter or longer periods of time, often with minor or nonexistent relations with local actors, or other participants in transdisciplinary programmes at the intersection of science and art.
