During May and June 2025, three cities\u2014Belgrade, Rijeka, and Trbovlje\u2014will host exhibitions that explore Southeast Europe\u2019s industrial heritage in contemporary and innovative ways. Artists from Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia will present works which use digital interpretations, sound installations, 3D mapping and interactive projections to offer fresh and deeper insights into industrial sites.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 June \u2014 Assembly Hall of the Academy of Applied Arts, Rijeka (Croatia)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The featured works focus on three landmark industrial sites: Belgrade\u2019s Snaga i svetlost thermal power plant, Rijeka\u2019s Hartera paper mill, and the Trbovlje Thermal Power Plant. Once symbols of industrial progress, these spaces are now gaining new life through art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibitions are organized as part of the international project FASIH \u2013 Future Art Science Industrial Heritage, which aims to understand, preserve, and document the region\u2019s industrial heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Project Manager Dobrivoje Lale Eri\u0107 notes, the ten art&science productions on display\u2014created through open calls and international collaboration\u2014are the result of two years of work by teams from the three countries. The exhibitions\u2019 goal is not only artistic expression but also reflection on the history, identity, and future of these sites through a unique synthesis of science, art, and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crowning event of the project will be the final conference \u201cIndustrial Heritage through Art & Science Lenses,\u201d to be held on 13 June 2025 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka. Bringing together researchers, artists, experts from diverse fields and other stakeholders, the conference will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, present the project\u2019s methodology and results, and lay the foundations for new collaborations in preserving industrial heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FASIH<\/strong> project, launched in February 2023, is supported by the European Union\u2019s Creative Europe program. It is led by the Center for the Promotion of Science, with partners including the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade, Delavski dom in Trbovlje, the University of Rijeka, the Academy of Applied Arts Rijeka, and the Natural History Museum Rijeka.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
