By merging video, sound, and light, the work constructs a layered narrative that evolves from familiar past weather patterns, through the complexities of the present, toward imagined and increasingly urgent futures.

At the core of the performance is a dual-screen scenography: one side displays raw data sourced from climate services (such as temperature, pollution, or extreme weather indicators), while the other presents figurative 3D visualisations that translate these metrics into emotionally resonant imagery. Accompanying this visual dialogue is a heartbeat-inspired sonic landscape that gradually accelerates, reflecting the intensifying pace of environmental change. Colour-changing LED light strips further amplify the emotional tone, synchronised with the shifting audio-visual rhythm.

Rather than presenting a dystopian vision, the piece invites contemplation and awareness. It emphasizes the crucial role of climate services not only as scientific tools, but as catalysts for cultural and behavioural transformation. By staging data in a visceral, performative context, Breathing opens space for new modes of understanding, where information becomes experience and experience becomes a call to action.

Arnaud Laffond is a multidisciplinary artist running a plastic digitisation workshop based in Lyon. His work is characterised by the creation of virtual environments and computer-generated materials, questioning the relationship between man and new technologies. Colour, as a raw material, is digitally sculpted, treated and altered to be reborn in a vibrant and luminous architecture. He explores and crosses the digital on different contemporary subjects, creating bridges with science to digest and transmit his artistic vision. Without forgetting a plastic and scenic work, working the digital as the tangible to surprise the spectator.

CREDITS:
Technical Director: Jérémie Forge (Atelier Hémisphère)
Music: Jean Emmanuel Rosnet
Mastering: Nil Hartman
Production: Center for the Promotion of Science, in the scope of the art+science call within the Horizon Europe project Climateurope2
Co-Production: French Institut / City of Lyon

Web: arnaudlaffond.com
Instagram: instagram.com/arnaud_laffond
Linkdin: linkedin.com/in/arnaud-laffond-15b4894b
Facebook: facebook.com/ArnaudDigital

Autor: Arno Lafon (FRA) Multimedijalna instalacija Disanje je performativna multimedijalna instalacija koja naučne klimatske podatke pretvara u imerzivno umetničko iskustvo.
